That's It The Coup, (The Coop): Reviews & Ratings
Nothing fancy about this place. The food was really good but not great. I had a Ruben and it was tasty but small. It had deli style sliced corned beef. The disappointing part was to find out they have no fountain drinks. All drinks including tea are bottled. A sweet tea is $3 a bottle. That’s expensive when you drink a lot like me.
My husband had a hand breaded tenderloin and I had a cheeseburger. The tomatoes were from the garden come on. It took me four regular size paper towels, To finish the burger was so juicy. I knew it before she told us but another customer asked “These are homegrown tomatoes, aren’t they?” It’s a hole in the wall for sure but the atmosphere inside is country, laid-back family, and the food was amazing, great staff and personality! both place and people!
This little hole in the wall is nothing fancy but right up our alley! If I hadn't Googled it, we never would have seen it! Be sure to look at the menus on the table, and not just whats on the dry erase board. They have so much! The food was hot and delicious. The girl cooking, and the man helping her were both so friendly and nice! If you're Highfalutin or Hoity Toity, this place definitely is not. But if you don't mind a Dive with great service and food, I would highly recommend The Coop!
Great food. Very family friendly. Don’t pass this Gem up if you drive close to Butler.
We came up to Butler, Missouri on Valentines day to go to a thrift store that we like. Afterwards we were looking for a place to eat, and we found The Coop and decided to give it a try. As soon as we opened the door, we were greeted with a lovely aroma of good home cooking. I got the Muffalletta sandwich with corn nuggets on the side. I have never heard of it before, so I had to try it. The sandwich was absolutely fantastic, and the corn nuggets were the best I have ever had! The wife had the 2-piece fish dinner and loved it. We also got the coop dippers to try, and I cannot recommend them enough! They also had a red velvet cheesecake for dessert which was most definitely one of the best cheesecakes I have ever had. This is a great place to get some seriously good home cooking. We will most definitely be coming back! My birthday is coming up soon and now I know where exactly where I want to go :) 5 stars all around!
Owners make you feel right at home! Food is Fantastic!!! Now I know what Excellent down home cooking should taste like! Food tastes even better than the pictures!
Fantastic tiny restaurant. I had the Tortilla Nest as a burrito with gravy on the side. Highly recommend. Sarah was a great waitress.

This unassuming restaurant serves up a diverse menu where southern staples like fried chicken breast sandwiches, crispy chicken wings, and a satisfying 3-piece chicken dinner take center stage. Each dish is crafted with a focus on homestyle flavors, evident in the juicy cheeseburgers layered with fresh, even garden-grown, tomatoes, and the golden, perfectly seasoned tater tots that make the perfect sidekick.
The charm of The Coop lies not only in its food but in its authenticity. The fried chicken boasts a golden crust that cracks gently under the bite, revealing tender meat beneath—a testament to hand-breading techniques and careful preparation. The chicken sandwich, simple yet vibrant with freshness, pairs well with classics like coleslaw and house-made clam chowder, which provide a cozy counterbalance to the richer, more indulgent items. The Muffaletta sandwich stands out, showcasing a blend of savory ingredients that delighted first-timers with its robust taste and unique character. It's a dish that surprises and charms simultaneously.
What makes dining here special is the genuine spirit permeating the space: friendly service and a country-inspired atmosphere invite diners to slow down and savor each bite. While the beverage options lean towards bottled drinks and sweet teas—priced on the higher side—they do little to detract from the overall appeal. This is not a place for fancy frills but for straightforward, well-executed dishes that evoke comfort and nostalgia.
Desserts like the red velvet cheesecake deliver an unexpectedly rich finale, leaving a lasting impression alongside the comfort of savory mains. With a menu that balances hearty classics such as corned beef hash and couscous, The Coop triumphs as a hidden gem where home cooking stands proudly, inviting patrons to return time and again.
